Overview
Where the thread runs through
Learn how to use themes to make your classes more inspiring – and get more bookings!
Preparing yoga classes and choreographing new sequences can be fun – but time consuming.
In this workshop you’ll learn how to work with philosophical and physical themes, which makes both teaching and practicing more inspiring.
It gives you the skills to re–use your favourite yoga sequences over and over again, whenever you want – and still give the students a fresh perspective and a new focus for each class.
Jennie will share her secrets on how to give the students a yoga experience beyond just asanas. You will learn how to authentically weave in themes into your classes, to inspire your students and creatively introduce yogic concepts and end themes that are relevant for everyday life in a way that makes the students want to come back for more!
You’ll also learn techniques for rhetorics, which can be very useful to promote your classes on your website or social media as well.
Drawing on 25+ years of teaching, Jennie shares practical tools for finding the themes that genuinely speak to you and learning how to share them with clarity, warmth and confidence. You'll explore where inspiration comes from, how to repurpose a single theme across many classes to keep your students engaged and your own creative spark alive.
The course stands alone as a Yoga Alliance–accredited CPD and can also be taken as an optional module on the Shala's 300–hour programme.
“Teaching is about helping others to cultivate inner calm and resilience – and bringing this into everyday life, off the yoga mat.”

What Our Students Say
What our students say
“Using themes saves me so much time and energy! I used to make a new yoga sequence for each class and even though I enjoyed it, it often stressed me out – it felt like I had to come up with something new every time. Nowadays I often reuse my favourite sequences and just tweak them a bit, and focus on using a new theme for each class instead – and the students LOVE it! Last week we focused on transitions – both between poses and transitions in life – and I got amazing feedback.”
“I cannot recommend Jennie enough. She is a very compassionate and knowledgeable teacher – you know you're in safe hands with her. I've attended classes, workshops and teacher trainings with her and they have all been exceptional.”
Rachel, UK“Jennie is a wonderful yoga teacher, so full of knowledge, authority and care, plus lots of humour and playfulness. She creates an atmosphere that is welcoming and kind and never leaves anyone behind. It's easy to feel safe in Jennie's hands. She is a breath of fresh air and I am grateful for her spirit, experience and energy that she contributes to the yoga world.”
Sophia Tillman, Sweden“Thank you so much for a fantastic day. I'm still buzzing! It was so much more than "just" a workshop – thank you for creating this safe space. I loved the brainstorming and that we got support both from you and from other teachers. Having a community is so important!”
Anna, Sweden“One of the most dedicated and professional teachers I have had the pleasure to meet. Jennie has a wealth of knowledge and experience that she shares with her students, always with a smile and kindness. Fun, charismatic, and generous. A teacher's teacher.”
Katja Niemela“Jennie has a true gift – she makes yoga teachings feel alive and relevant. Her ability to find a theme that touches everyone in the room is something I aspire to in my own teaching. This course gave me the structure and the courage to try.”
