Holding the sacred space of birth
Approach
For Alexa, yoga is more than a practice; it is preparation for one of the most profound thresholds a body and spirit can cross. She teaches from a place of deep listening, weaving movement, breath and mindfulness with childbirth education so that pregnancy becomes a time of trust rather than fear. In her presence, women are encouraged to soften into their own knowing, to feel held without being managed, and to meet birth as something they are actively and intuitively moving towards rather than something they wait to happen to them.
“Alexa is a very special teacher and mentor. She has a way of nurturing her teachers in a caring, non judgmental, and compassionate way. Since training with Alexa, I have gone on to teach predominantly pregnancy and post–natal yoga and set up my own business, and I have continued to connect with her to feel supported.” Lucy Moff, Yoga Teacher
Early years
Originally from Argentina with English heritage, Alexa made London her home in 2001. She began practicing yoga with the Shala (then the Sangam) in 2004 and her professional journey began with classical Hatha Yoga training at triyoga London in 2010 and continued with Vinyasa Flow studies in India. These early foundations would later open into a lifetime work in women's wellness, pregnancy and birth.
Training & influences
Alexa's path has been shaped by some of the most respected voices in pregnancy yoga, doula work and natural childbirth – from Nadia Narain, Gurmuckh Kaur Khalsa (US), Uma Dinsmore Tuli and the YogaBirth movement, to apprenticeship with the legendary Dr Michel Odent and time at Ina May Gaskin's Farm Midwifery Center in Tennessee. But the through–line of her teaching isn't the impressive long list of names of people she has studied with; it's her steadfast conviction that birth is sacred, that women's bodies are wise, and that the role of a teacher is to make space for that wisdom to surface. Every lineage she has studied, yogic, somatic, midwifery, hypnobirthing, has been absorbed into a practice that is unmistakably her own: tender, grounded, and deeply trusting of the innate wisdom of those in front of her.
Teaching today
Today, Alexa works across the full perinatal arc, teaching pregnancy and postnatal yoga, training the next generation of teachers, supporting births as a doula and offering hands–on care as a fertility, pregnancy, postnatal and baby massage therapist. She continues to deepen her own learning through the True Midwifery Spiral and the Silent Birthkeeper Immersion with Ruth Ehrhardt, and through workshops with international figures including Naoli Vinaver, Robin Lim and Debra Pascali–Bonaro. Her practice is rooted in a profound respect for the body's intelligence, the sacred nature of birth, and the unique path of every family
