Jennie Wadsten Sharma
Teacher Trainer · Yoga Nidra, Theming & Sequencing · E–RYT 500 & YACEPA former Economist who left the City to teach what she loves, Jennie has been guiding students on and off the mat for over two decades, from Stockholm to Goa, where she ran one of India's busiest drop–in studios. Trained in psychology and the science of how yoga touches the nervous system, she is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, and brings a rare blend of biomechanical precision, fascia–informed care and Scandinavian warmth to everything she teaches.
A teacher's teacher
Approach
Jennie teaches with humour, encouragement and an unmistakable trust in the student in front of her. Her core conviction, which she repeats like a quiet refrain through every course she leads, is that there is no single right way to practise yoga: there are many truths, and each teacher must find their own. She nurtures her trainees to teach from their authentic self, to communicate with that voice with curiosity rather than performance, and to carry the practice off the mat into the texture of everyday life.
Safety is at the heart of Jennei's teaching. Across Nidra, asana sequencing, and thematic enquiry, she works with deep respect for the nervous system. Her work explores the elusive nature of attention and the science of how yoga genuinely lands in the body. She is never dogmatic, always inviting questions, and always returning the practice to the individual.
One of the most dedicated and professional teachers I have had the pleasure to meet. Jennie has a wealth of knowledge and experience that she shares with her students, always with a smile and kindness. Fun, charismatic and generous. A teacher’s teacher. Katja Niemela
Early years
Jennie fell in love with yoga in 1997, while working full–time as an Economist in the IT and media sector.
In 2004 she had a big burnout, and decided to leave the corporate world. She moved to Goa and for many years she was managing Brahmani Yoga in North Goa – one of India's busiest drop–in centres, founded by Julie Martin in 2003. Nowadays she runs four yoga companies, and teaches all over the world.
Training & influences
A few years into teaching, illness arrived, and with it a discovery of Yoga Nidra. The practice that would become her main offering first found her as medicine: a doorway back to wellness when the body could no longer hold its old rhythms. That experience shaped everything that followed. Where many teachers come to Nidra as a technique, Jennie came to it as a lifeline, and she has never forgotten what it offers an exhausted body, a frightened mind, a nervous system in need of permission to rest.
Since then, her studies have been deliberately wide. She has, up until now, done teacher trainings and workshops with over 90 yoga teachers, in several styles and methods. These days her main focus is psychology, neuroscience for yoga and trauma–informed yoga. She is also a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. What emerges is a teacher who refuses to specialise in only one thing: a generalist in the oldest, richest sense of that word, equally at home in fascia, philosophy, breath, and the science of attention.
Teaching today
Today Jennie mainly moves between Stockholm, Goa and London. She leads the Shala's Yoga Nidra Teacher Training alongside Melanie Cooper, also teaching Theming and other short modules on the 300–hour programme. Additionally, she mentors teachers who, in their own time, will go on to do the same for someone else. Her classrooms, whether livestream or in studio, carry an unmistakable atmosphere: warm, exact, fun, kind, never leaving anyone behind

Jane, UK – Yoga Nidra Teacher Training“Using themes saves me so much time and energy! I used to make a new yoga sequence for each class and even though I enjoyed it, it often stressed me out – it felt like I had to come up with something new for each class to make sure the students didn't get bored. Nowadays I often reuse my favourite sequences and just tweak them a bit and focus on using a new theme for each class instead – and the students LOVE it! Thank you so much Jennie for all the tools you have given me!”
